Amager Citizenship Congress
March 19 / 20:30 / 22 / 26 / 28 / 29, 2026 at Tårnby Town Hall
Share your story of being a new citizen in Denmark or your experience meeting new citizens in Denmark!
Tårnby Park Studio is looking for participants for the performance Amager Citizenship Congress at Tårnby Town Hall. The performance is a unique theatrical experience exploring what it means to be new in Denmark—or to meet new citizens. We are seeking people who are either new citizens themselves or have experience meeting new citizens and are willing to share their stories. Contributions can take the form of stories, music, food, poetry, or other creative expressions.
The performance is a unique theatrical experience that explores what it means to be new in Denmark—or to meet new citizens. We are curious about your perspectives:
- What is it like to apply for citizenship?
- What is it like to be new in Tårnby and Denmark?
- And what is it like as a local resident to welcome newcomers?
- How do we engage newcomers in local community life?
- How are friendships formed?
- What was your experience with the Danish language, your first home, traffic, winter darkness, the municipality, Danish institutions, queue culture, the job market, food, new friends, family life, and the longing for a homeland?
Practical information: The performance will run six times at the end of March 2026 at Tårnby Town Hall. To participate, you must be available for six evenings and two rehearsal days in February and March 2026.
