Don’t pay your debts
performance 7.3 + 8.3 2024 at Husets Theater + 04.6 + 05.6 Sommerstart Festival
The fear of new economic collapses is a constant discomfort and Liebmann/Barkan attempts to prepare us for the next chock by looking at our understanding of economy and the leeway we may or may not have.
𝗗𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗣𝗮𝘆 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗗𝗲𝗯𝘁𝘀 is a trivial workshop for serious people. A performance that penetrates, exposes, and ridicules the hyper-object of ECONOMY that rules our life, and threats our common future. Andreas Liebmann and Boaz Barkan continue their workshop-performance series, this time discovering the poetics of economy.
about LIEBMANN/BARKAN (CH/IL/DK)
Liebmann and Barkan have worked together for several years, developing performances to address local and international issues. Beginning with ‘Tårnby Får Besøg’, a performance film with and by residents of Tårnby – re-enacting the Hollywood film E.T. Later they developed a series of performances titled ‘Total international (Local)’ (in collaboration with Teater Får302 and selected for the Det Frie Felts Festival) to address the role and identity of the artist as a local and international agent. Their performances are participatory and inclusive on different levels and are rooted in experimental performance.
In a previous work, Andreas Liebmann had staged David Graebers ‘Debts – the first 5000 years’ together with Theater Freiburg and Schauspiel Stuttgart, which was awarded one of the ten best performances in Germany on the selection Nachtkritik- Theatertreffen.
Barkan is currently completing ‘Kend Dig Selv’, a performance about internalised racism and islamophobia, and ‘Familiedansen’ that stages real families into a dance performance.
