The launch of THE BURB / FORSTADEN is a theatrical monologue about the birth of Tårnby Park Studio, based on Andreas Liebmann’s experiences with art, theatre and performance in Tårnby. The book dives into dreams, everyday dramas and concrete artistic research work, and its stories feature many of the people who have been part of Tårnby Park Studio’s history. An important part of the book is the legendary SELF MADE CAPITAL performance evening.

he evening also features the performance UNHOLY TEACHINGS OF THE WITCH by Vala Foltyn, and SOUP, prepared by Cecilie Ullerup Schmidt, the resident ghost co-curator of our festivals. At the same time, the evening marks the end of Tårnby Park Studio’s collaboration with the housing association Tårnbyhuse – our last event at the venue. And we think our fabulous time in Tårnbyparken is worth celebrating. So come and join us!

UNHOLY TEACHINGS OF THE WITCH

Taking its starting point in lost and silenced stories, queer archives and speculative futures, UNHOLY TEACHINGS OF THE WITCH unfolds as a ritual lecture and storytelling. Through a guided journey, Foltyn manifests historical figures and personal memories. She references the legacy of Chiara Fumai – an Italian artist, medium and witch. Eastern European queer history, archives and questions of apocalypse, precarity and memory are woven together.

With a large patchwork quilt at its centre, the work functions as a portal for ghosts, witches and forgotten voices. The performance extends beyond the glass dome, the staircase and the black box, inviting the audience into an intimate dialogue between past, present and possible futures. Drawing on collected historical and celestial data, she conjures up the Italian artist Chiara Fumai and brings her into conversation with her personal archive, carefully quilted with scratch marks, holes, memoirs and hallucinations. The patchwork quilt is an open form and serves as the witch’s dowry; it was recently sewn together with other artists – Andreas Haglund, Katarina Zalar and Sandy Ceesay – as part of their witch camping residency at HAUT in Copenhagen.
