Festivals

Tårnby Park Studio organizes the transdisciplinary local-international Tårnby Park Performance Festival every year. It brings together site-specific performance art, discourse, cozy gatherings, neighborhood exploration, the involvement of local citizens, and the development of the young local performance scene.

This festival sees itself as a performative intervention in the tradition of direct action: We create the world we want ourselves. We do not exhaust ourselves in the critique of institutions and societies, but live an alternative. Our festivals are based on relationships: To the place, to the neighborhood, between artists. We see the creation of curious and open relationships, including different or incompatible positions, as the key to shaping the space that the festival creates.

We support the invited artists in a way that allows them to work experimentally. Expressed trust also applies in case of failure.

With the Tårnby Park Performance Festival, we explore Tårnby and Amager as a place for theater in the broadest sense. We perform in parks, supermarkets, at the library by the beach, on islands, and in the Fælleshus of Tårnbyhuse.

Our commitment is to offer a space with the festival that is accessible to everyone in the broadest sense: For the residents and their children, for art enthusiasts from near and far, for artists. Whether someone goes to the theater regularly or not, the Tårnby Park Performance Festival creates an easily accessible and sparkling atmosphere between everyday life and conceptual art.
