RAISE YOUR SPOONS! PERFORMANCE & SOUP IS BACK

Another year has almost passed, winter is upon us. In Tårnby Park Studio we celebrate the balance of our summer festival with a tempting and hyggelig plan for everyone. We share the joy of experiencing the work of talented performers from all over the world. But also, sharing a moment with our beloved community while we have a nice dinner. This is the spirit of Performance & Soup.This year we want to turn this event into a canva. On the one hand, each Monday of December the artists will share with us their colours, perspectives, lights and shades, techniques and their points of view in their work. On the other hand, in terms of soup our kitchen will bring different recipes from cultures around the world.Since we start the evening with cinema for children and popcorn (aaand soup of course!), you are more than welcome to bring the whole family! The movies are animated shorts curated by our friends of Vester Vov Vov.

About the performances:

4.12 Ran Suh presents a performance that interweaves texts and practices about traditional rice cultivation with stories about community and the social position of women. In her work, Denise Lim refers to David Lynch’s “Lost Highway” and plays with situations of being lost and at the mercy of others. An attempt to create meaning in a grotesque world.11.12 In “Courage“, Signe Vad addresses the role of the body in the context of the climate crisis and strategies of hope. “Many Wild Times” by Andreas Haglund plays with the animalistic in humans and the non-useful contrast between nature and culture. Queerness meets an ecological wildness that overrides categories.18.12 “En suppe, der varmer sjælen op” invites the audience to make soup together. It reflects on migration, flight, politics and memory. “Do around the world” turns sport into music. The skipping rope becomes a drum kit and the starting point for a meditative live experience.

About the Artists

Denise Lim (SG/DE) is a Singaporean dancer and choreographer, currently based in Berlin. Her practice involves methods of scoring and improvising, working towards intensities that enchant and invite experimental modes of witnessing. Denise makes performances in public spaces in Berlin as part of the Club for Performance Art Gallery and graw böckler garageN. She holds a BFA in Dance and Choreography from the Danish National School of Performing Arts in Copenhagen, and is a recipient of the ImPulsTanz danceWEB scholarship in 2019. Denise is a member of queer feminist collective Altes Finanzamt since 2022.

Ran Suh is a choreographer and artist-researcher in Copenhagen and Seoul. She has created multidisciplinary performances about shamanism, traditional dance, and mythology based on autoethnography. After relocating to Denmark, she engaged in a climate activism performance group, Becoming Species. She participates in intertwined movements of decentralized activism, multispecies thinking, and remembering ancestral tradition. Her current research project focuses on traditional ecological knowledge and co-mythmaking. She studied MFA in Choreography at KNUA and MA in Religious Studies at KU.

When it’s cold outside, we need warmth. We need to gather. We need artistic enrichment. Tårnby Park Studio presents high quality movies for the small ones and a good range of independent performance artists and newcomers that are connected to us in friendship. Winter comes? We answer with performance and soup! Come and enjoy the work of Boys* in Sync, Sophie Grodin & Max Morris-Doherty, Snorre Hansen, Boaz Barkan & Andreas Liebmann, Tanya Montan Rydell, Sara Hamming and Franco De Pian. Our kids-cinema program “Børnebif“ – in collaboration with VesterVoVo – contains precious movies specially for kids (precise program to come). For the first time ever, our new performance club for non-professionals – Fremtidsklubben – shares its work with an audience.Do you have kids? Come with the whole family. While you see an artistic proposal from independent performance artists, your kids watch a movie in the space aside. Side note: The movie program is for 4–6 years old kids, but we say: Also older kids will have their fun. On the three first Mondays in December, Tårnby Park Studio offers again what it best can provide: Shared time, sociality and performances.
